I am bringing this topic, because MyBB is a bit bad. It does some basic stuff well, but there are problems that hurt the potential growth of this site.

A user from the zarty mentioned that there was a pirated version of XenForo, if i understood correctly. There are also other, more modern options like Discourse. Will check out the other options.

Is it worth it to switch, fellow artisans? Its not like we would loose a lot. Indeed, this should have been done before i announced the site (didnt see a lot of options back then), but we are still in the very early phases of this site's existence.

I. So here are the potential options out there:

1. Free options:
a. https://www.discourse.org/
b. https://open.vanillaforums.com/
c. https://www.simplemachines.org/
d. https://www.phpbb.com/ (worse then mybb to some extend)
e. https://flarum.org/ (looks gay)

2. Paid options (le bad for now, since i dont wish to invest more money into this site)
a. https://xenforo.com/ (cant have nice things...)
b. https://www.vbulletin.com/

I will add onto this list if i find anything else

it does. i didnt pick it up at first, since mybb had that "oldschool forum" vibe that i wanted to emulate. Discordse does have cool stuff like live chat. I can try to run a localhost and test if its functional or not (mostly relating to media sharing, mybb is really autistic in that department)

I didn't want to be a downer but myBB is really unwieldly to use. If you can get xenforo for free then you're golden.
