i will only add that in addition I can make registering require an invite code (which only i can generate). I can make invites necessary and make the current boards to be visible only to logged in users, thus turning the club into a closed community.
we decided to let the site be open for now (to get users) and we can close things up a bit later (and reopen). really this would depend on the circumstances, so we shall see.
That doesn't necessarily have to be a requirement, we can have some sort of a "trusted" role given after spending a month on the website or so, but in general having an account on itself is not that high barrier to entry.

yeah, but how would it work anyway? what kind of access does that role give ya?
if its a closed community, you will get people only through insiders. ig an "insider" role could make invites. if we dont like somebody, we ban him. ez
I think this is a good idea, it makes it so offsiters have to make an account if they want to see every thread made.
But it could be a problem for the people who simply just like being anonymous.
/oc3/ for people who want the account requirement AND don't want their accounts attached to their posts
/oc4/ you need to do irl missions in order to be granted a secret account, after that you are forced to hide your account >>31
I feel like those two things could be easily done with a toggle for the thread or something. Like making all the posters in the thread appear as "anonymous" or a toggle so only people with accounts can view the thread.
I personally don't think we need more boards for small mechanics that could be added to the already existing board.
making a thread anonymous is super easy, making a thread restricted complicates every single query that returns posts to be displayed anywhere because now we must also check if the thread is restricted.
this is because an anonymous post is just a post with name, while there is no concept of a restricted post
but yeah, this is getting autistic.
I aint making new boards, i aint that type of guy. id rather just restrict the current boards to limit outside migration. simple as
i will try to add this anyway, now i don't think it should be such a big complication because it's only an account requirement, which when retrieving threads for overboard or index can be checked because we are retrieving threads so the only place that actually has to change is the user page
I'm not much of a coding guy but couldn't you just add in a "restricted" and "unrestricted" label that applies to threads, then have it check if the person viewing the board is in an account in order to load or not load in the thread?
I'm pretty sure something like that was also done for the /raid/ board on the sharty, just with concurrent IPs.
yes, that's how it's implemented, it's just that it effectively doubles the cache sizes because now all queries have to take into account whether the user is logged in or not, and this information has to be passed everywhere, and also in some cases it means an additional join
/o67/ will be a special board for the trve zoomerGODS & alphaGODS
hooray! thank you so much kind developer
