Ongezellig comic SCDC No.140 Reply
Hi everyone, I registered here to post my ideas and creations. I've long had the idea of creating a full-fledged comic book story based on Ongezellig, but unfortunately, it has its own difficulties due to my limited knowledge of screenwriting and how to properly construct a plot. I would be very glad if someone knowledgeable in this field, or perhaps even someone studying in this field, would respond. I wish everyone good luck. 5 replies omitted.

In general, you're right, Zoot. After watching Ongezellig, I was really inspired to create art, something I'd never done before. As for the idea for short stories, I have ideas for one-page comics with jokes about the characters, but I wouldn't want to do them right now because I'd like to make a full-length comic that's as long as the pilot, or maybe a little shorter. The idea of my comic is to create the perfect beginning for our heroines' story. You see, the pilot, although excellent, doesn't feel like a beginning, but rather like another episode, 4, 6, 7. I hope you know what I mean. As for the script, I'd like to ask you to recommend specific training videos about scripts, because when I tried to find something myself, I only came across garbage or off-topic ones. In general, I'd be glad to hear any answers.

>I dont wanna do something short, i wanna do something as long as the pilot
My fellow gamer, I cannot force you to do anything on this matter. I HIGLY recommend you go for the short content from experience. I implore you, hear my advise.

If you are just starting, you are about to look into the process and will be figuring out the workflow. You don't know what you will run into or if you will have the motivation/skills to do a long term project. It's gonna become a trench warfare type of situation against you and the project.

I get that you find things in the pilot/show that you think you will atleast offer a different opinion on, but just slow down for now.
(also its a pilot, of course its not a "beginning")

>I'd like to ask you to recommend specific training videos about scripts

i mean, writing "how to write a script" on da tube gave me a good introduction on the basics (https://youtu.be/-3uO0Qqfklo for example) and then i searched online for scripts for different movies, to see how different producers write.

here's for comic books:
https://comicsexperience.com/scripts/

here's for movies in general:
https://imsdb.com/

learn the basics and then look at reference materials.

Thanks for the recommendations, but you didn't quite understand me. I meant not only competent script writing, but also "how to write a story in general so that the dialogue is well-written and not idiotic, so that the actions are interesting for the reader and do not get boring, but so that it does not look like byte or like twitching keys, and how to competently write characters so that you can believe in them and feel embedded in them even if Zellig's world is unrealistic and obeys a peculiar cartoonish logic." hmmmmmmmmmmm...
Zoot_O No.153

>>152
Alright, I sort of understand now.

>the dialogue is well-written and not idiotic

Checking scripts, listening to how people talk in real life, reading books etc. This sounds more like learning about literature, so go and look into that sphere (plot and dialogue writing).

>the actions are interesting for the reader and do not get boring
If we are talking about a comic, then you should learn about composition, color theory (maybe) and flow & form of a human figure.

>how to competently write characters so that you can believe in them and feel embedded in them

View characters as representing different arguments/worldviews/paradigms/etc. A story is basically a fancy way of doing a debate/critique/idea-sharing/etc. Conflicts in the story could be literal/physical, with dialogue or other means.
Obviously, they should also have some sort of a background or basic character traits, but dont be extreme or absurd. The setting of the plot also affects the characters (they arent isolated from the world).

>Zellig's world is unrealistic and obeys a peculiar cartoonish logic
"unrealistic" doesnt always mean "unbelievable"

ANYWAYS, just write something short and experiment. I dont think i can recommend you books on that topic, but im sure you can find materials on the net. And post whatever you write here, so that people can give suggestions.

Im fine, Minnorth. I'm currently mostly busy with working on the garden here and there and slowly moving out with me woman. I'm also working on projects on the side.
How about you?

>Also, I really like this new site.I hope you keep up with it and it gains some traction.God knows the soysphere is dead by this point, so it's nice to have a site that moves away from it a bit.
I'm glad you like it! If you have gems to post, we would happily take them.
It has slowly started to pick up some momentum, but we shall see where it goes.

I'm doing alright myself, mostly just working these days.

It's good to hear you're doing well. Gardening is a wonderful pastime. I'd like to pursue it myself once I get my own place. I wish you and your woman the best.

afaik it's because you can assign numbers to points on the curve and find their sum by interpolating the points and seeing where else the interpolation intersects. the game with cryptography is to add a point to itself a bunch of times because it's difficult to undo this. it's the same idea as adding an angle to itself many times: once you go past 360° it's hard to guess how the result relates to the starting point.

I meant as a whole, so both the hair and the arms generally going in a clockwise direction.

Materials on anatomy Zoot_O No.1 Reply

Here are three books on anatomy.
Warning, there may be nude models.

Anatomy for Sculptors:
https://frisk.page/f/xmL4v6WIMqU

Anatomy of facial expression:
https://frisk.page/f/f0iaf70djtW

Form of the head and neck:
https://frisk.page/f/mLTaoaEPlOf

Here's also a site to practice figure drawing, if you wish:
https://line-of-action.com/?continueFlag=c875355178685c0b313ae265fb1efd45

Keep in mind to distinguish between the from (structure) and the flow (position/rythm) of a body. Dont hyper focus on proportions when drawing 2d paintings, as they are not constant and are up to the author to draw them in a believable way. Draw something that visually looks good, not something that's correct on a technical level.

are you thinking of catbox.moe? Recently I've found its been pretty slow to upload/download so I would recommend fileditch.com or frisk.page off the top of my head. I prefer using 0x0.st but you need to use cURL to upload so it's not for everyone.

I think this site is a bit too like imageboard except with accounts. There should be more functions and aesthetics associated with forums like multiple pictures in one post, avatars, maybe even private messages. Otherwise it works and feels a bit too zarty like and it doubles the dutch cartoon imageboard and doubles don't survive for long. Idk, maybe these changes won't work under current software, just a quick idea 4 replies omitted.
